Who we are: The History of Odorization Solutions

John A. Knoll – Founder, Odorization Solutions, Inc.

John A. Knoll began his career at Natural Gas Odorizing (NGO), gaining hands-on experience in operations, lab analysis, and nationwide field testing. This work laid the foundation for a deep understanding of the natural gas industry.

In 1977, he moved from Houston to Pensacola to manage a ten-state territory in the Southeast. Known for his customer-focused approach, he has delivered numerous industry presentations—some published—and organized multiple gas seminars, attracting attendees from across the country.

Mr. Knoll has designed and consulted on odorization stations for clients across the U.S., recommending and implementing equipment solutions tailored to safe and accurate gas odorization. He also developed the trailer and transfer systems still in use by companies such as Atmos Energy, CenterPoint Energy, Spire, Southern Company Gas, and others.

He has served on the boards of the Louisiana and Tennessee Gas Associations, is a member of the Tennessee Gas Association and the Gild of Ancient Supplers, and holds honorary Associate Staff Member status with the Office of Pipeline Safety. His expertise has also been recognized in federal court as an expert witness.

In 2002, he founded Odorization Solutions, Inc. (OSI), later joined by John P. Knoll, continuing the legacy of excellence in Odorization Solutions.
